Rebuilding Memories / Landscape and Nature
Beacons #44 (2013)
-
Captured in Coimbra, this image shifts the series of rural landscapes to the interior of an abandoned warehouse. The composition focuses on an improvised goalpost, drawn directly into a weathered concrete wall, surrounded by discarded chairs and debris. This domestic, yet decaying, setting replaces the open horizon with a confined and harsh atmosphere, where the goalpost remains as a persistent symbol of human activity, even in a state of decay.
The series explores these abandoned or solitary goalposts as symbols of human presence in the natural or built world. They mark the intersection between sport, memory, and the silent persistence of the landscape. -
