Interior Spiral #109 (2016)
-
This photograph reveals the interior of the Leixões Cruise Terminal, designed by architect Luís Pedro Silva and completed in 2015. From the inside, the spiral ramp becomes a dominant spatial gesture, guiding the eye through a continuous flow of light and shadow. Sunlight enters through the openings and projects geometric patterns onto the curved surfaces, transforming movement into a visual rhythm. The textured ceramic cladding contrasts with the smooth walls and glass, reinforcing the dialogue between the weight of the material and the luminosity. The image actively explores how architecture guides the perception of the interior, not only through monumentality, but also through sequence, curvature, and light. Here, the space unfolds gradually, inviting the observer to experience the building as a lived journey, not as a fixed interior.
