Rebuilding Memories / Landscape and Nature
Albernoa #65 (2013)
-
"Oh, gentlemen, you who lie in the sun on the beach, come to the fields of Albernoa to experience the sun. See how dry these streams are, the Marzalona ravine, the Terges stream, the tiny, invisible tributaries that are indistinguishable from the landscape, which is just as dry. Here, one knows, without having to resort to dictionaries, what these words mean: heat, thirst, latifundium. The traveller has no shortage of lights in these parts, but what the eyes reveal is always greater and more than one thought one knew. A kite crossed the road in a sharp flight. It came falling from above, seeming to have a clear target among the stubble, but then, with a beat of its wing, it broke its descent and, gliding from another angle, directed its flight beyond the hills. I rebuke you for your ferocity.”
