Lighthouse #190 (2010)

  • This lighthouse was photographed during a short trip to Isola dell’Amore, located on the banks of the Po River in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, within the Po Delta. Rising from a narrow strip of sand shaped by the slow movement of the delta, it marks the fragile boundary between the river and the sea. Lighthouses are a captivating component of a new series entitled Spirit of the Water; we look forward to adding more images to this project soon. More than navigational structures, lighthouses embody resilience and vigilance. Standing alone against the ever-changing tides, they evoke hope and security, reminding us of humanity's persistent dialogue with water, distance, and uncertainty.
