Three Ways of Travelling

ROAD TRIP — Scotland

Garry Winogrand, for example, […] found that within the rectangle of this viewfinder, he could freeze vignettes of life as he saw it or, rather, as his camera saw it. It might sound like Cartier-Bresson, but in truth, his aims were very different:
I photograph to find out what the world looks like in a photograph.”

There’s so much out there waiting to be discovered.
Whether it’s new places, ideas, or experiences, the possibilities are
endless.
What do we plan to explore in these episodes?

As we cross historic Hadrian's Wall, we enter enchanting Scotland, a land steeped in legend and natural beauty. Our journey begins along the picturesque west coast, possibly heading towards the seaside town of Port William or the vibrant city of Glasgow. Before embarking on our main route, we can indulge in a charming detour to Edinburgh, the capital, renowned for its stunning architecture, rich history, and the iconic Edinburgh Castle overlooking the city.
Returning to the established route, we'll venture through the breathtaking landscapes of Glencoe, a valley renowned for its dramatic scenery and tragic history. Next, we'll head to Fort William and explore Glenfinnan, where we can marvel at the stunning viaduct made famous by the Harry Potter films. In Mallaig, we'll stop at the last station of the renowned Jacobite Steam Train—an experience that transports us to the magical world of Harry Potter. Continuing our exploration, we aim to reach the captivating Isle of Skye, famous for its rugged landscapes and picturesque villages, where the dramatic Old Man of Storr and the enchanting Fairy Pools await. As we travel further north, we won't miss the opportunity to visit the coastal village of John o' Groats, one of the northernmost points of mainland Scotland, with stunning sea views and a sense of adventure.
As we begin our journey along the east coast, we'll head to Inverness, the vibrant capital of the Scottish Highlands. Here, we can explore the mythical Loch Ness, perhaps in the hope of spotting its legendary inhabitant. Our trail will take us to Portknockie, where we'll capture photos of the iconic Bow Fiddle Rock, a natural arch jutting dramatically into the sea, which we've had the opportunity to photograph on previous trips.
We'll pass through many picturesque towns along the east coast, including the bustling streets of Aberdeen, the cultural treasures of Dundee, and the historic charm of Newcastle. Each stop will offer unique experiences, flavors and stories.
