Three Ways to Travelling

ROAD TRIP — Norway

Garry Winogrand, for example, […] found that within the rectangle of this viewfinder, he could freeze vignettes of life as he saw it or, rather, as his camera saw it. It might sound like Cartier-Bresson, but in truth, his aims were very different:
I photograph to find out what the world looks like in a photograph.”

There’s so much out there waiting to be discovered.
Whether it’s new places, ideas, or experiences, the possibilities are
endless.
What do we plan to explore in these episodes?

After leaving England via the Channel Tunnel, we are excited to head to Norway, full of anticipation. Our goal is to capture images of the fascinating landscapes and rich history of the regions we will pass through. Our first stop will be Dunkirk, a city steeped in World War II history, where we can reflect on its past importance while visiting the cemeteries that house the remains of fallen soldiers. From there, we will continue to Belgium. We will visit the beautiful city of Ghent, with its medieval architecture and vibrant canals, followed by Antwerp, famous for being considered the diamond capital and for the magnificent Gothic Cathedral of Our Lady and the works of Rubens. Continuing our journey, we will cross Germany, stopping in Duisburg, known for its extensive inland port, and Münster, a city renowned for its historic monuments. Our journey through Germany will also take us through the bustling cities of Bremen and Hamburg. As we enter Denmark, our route will include Padborg, a town known for its proximity to the German border, and Snoghøj, a village offering a glimpse of the beautiful Danish countryside. We'll pass through Staurby and Nyborg, passing through the elegant Halsskov ferry terminal, and then arrive in Copenhagen. In this capital, we'll delight in the iconic Little Mermaid statue and its stunning canals. Our journey continues to Maglebylille, a peaceful spot perfect for a break. After a scenic drive along the E20, we'll cross into Sweden, stopping at Bunkeflostrand, where views of the Øresund Strait await. In Malmö, we hope to explore its innovative architecture and parks, culminating our trip at the iconic Svinesund Bridge, which gracefully connects Sweden and Norway, setting the stage for our Norwegian adventure. While we'll briefly visit these regions, we're planning a more extensive visit to Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands on our return trip, which allows us to delve deeper into their unique cultures and landscapes. With such an ambitious itinerary, we're eager to dedicate our time in Norway to exploring its stunning fjords, majestic mountains, and vibrant cities. We're also eyeing Germany for a future trip, as well as potential additional destinations in northern Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, and, back in Sweden, as we dream of the travels that await us.

Although we've never been to Norway, we genuinely understand the excitement that comes with embarking on such a new adventure. We had time to watch a few videos, which only heightened our anticipation of exploring this stunning country. It seems like a fantastic opportunity to experience its beauty firsthand, and we can't wait to embark on this journey.
We're excited to explore the majestic Vinnufossen, which holds the title of Europe's largest waterfall and the sixth highest (860 m). Nestled in the picturesque village of Sunndalsøra, we'll stroll through the charming row of vibrant red houses that dot the landscape, adding a splash of colour to the breathtaking scenery. Our adventure doesn't stop there; we'll also travel the iconic Atlantic Ocean Road, famous for its stunning coastal views. Finally, we aim to reach North Cape (Kinnarodden). This remarkable location may well be the northernmost point of continental Europe we'll ever visit, offering breathtaking views and a thrilling sense of being at the end of the world. However, many other places are firmly within our sights!
