Portraits of Someone
Short moments #38 (2006)
-
This photograph was taken near Arcachon, on the Atlantic coast of France. The image depicts a brief moment of shared leisure in a tranquil summer setting. Two figures sit near the water's edge, absorbed in reading, their bodies relaxed and turned inward, while a third person emerges from the water. Tree trunks structure the frame, separating and simultaneously connecting these simultaneous actions. Reading, conversation, and bathing coexist without competition. The photograph observes how leisure unfolds through proximity, where companionship demands nothing in return. It captures a suspended moment of holiday and togetherness, shaped by available time, shared space, and the simple pleasure of being together without haste.
