It is within the very core of this journey’s narrative — and of the territory opening up before us — that this diary finds its place. It does not seek to be an itinerary of certainties, but rather a record of the interruptions, disruptions, and revelations that the road imposes upon the body and the gaze. Whilst photography and video fix the visual coordinates of the landscape, these field notes seek to capture the invisible aspect of practice: the density of time passing between two stops, the weight of silence inside the cabin, and the way the repetition of everyday gestures transforms the journey into a dwelling in motion.

Here, writing assumes the character of the instant, stripped of the filter that temporal distance usually casts over memory. It stands as the direct testimony of experience: the fatigue accumulated at the end of the day, the subtle mutation of light reflected on the dashboard, and the way the territory ceases to be an abstract map to become a physical, tactile, and lived presence.

Each entry functions as a fragment of this archaeology of the everyday — a record where I invite the reader to share not the final destination, but the very process of searching. After all, we do not measure the true journey by the distance covered on the tarmac, but by the depth to which we allow ourselves to be transformed.

Unlike a narrative constructed retrospectively, these pages preserve the inherent uncertainty of one who still does not know what lies around the next bend. There is no temptation here to order events to assign them a definitive meaning, nor to convert the experience into a coherent succession of episodes. Each note remains bound to the moment I wrote it, and, precisely for this reason, it preserves doubts, route changes, thwarted expectations, and unexpected discoveries. It is this provisional condition that gives this beginning of a diary its value: not to explain the journey once concluded, but to accompany a thought that starts before departure and transforms along the way.

Sobre a Natureza do Começar

É no âmago da narrativa desta viagem — e do território que se abre diante de nós — que este diário se inscreve. Ele não procura ser um roteiro de certezas, mas sim um registo das interrupções, dos abalos e das revelações que a estrada impõe ao corpo e ao olhar. Se a fotografia e o vídeo fixam as coordenadas visuais da paisagem, estas notas de campo procuram capturar o invisível da prática: a densidade do tempo que passa entre duas paragens, o peso do silêncio no habitáculo e a forma como a repetição dos gestos quotidianos transforma a viagem numa habitação em movimento.

Aqui, a escrita assume o carácter do instante, despida do filtro que a distância temporal costuma conferir à memória. É o testemunho directo da experiência: a fadiga acumulada ao fim do dia, a mutação subtil da luz reflectida no painel de bordo e o modo como o território deixa de ser um mapa abstracto para se tornar numa presença física, táctil e vivida.

Cada entrada funciona como um fragmento desta arqueologia do quotidiano — um registo em que o leitor é convidado a partilhar não o destino final, mas o próprio processo de procura. Afinal, a verdadeira viagem não se mede pela distância percorrida no asfalto, mas pela profundidade com que nos deixamos transformar.

Ao contrário da narrativa construída retrospectivamente, estas páginas conservam a incerteza própria de quem ainda desconhece o que encontrará na curva seguinte. Não existe aqui a tentação de ordenar os acontecimentos para lhes atribuir um significado definitivo, nem de converter a experiência numa sucessão coerente de episódios. Cada anotação permanece vinculada ao momento em que foi escrita e, precisamente por isso, preserva dúvidas, mudanças de percurso, expectativas goradas e descobertas inesperadas. É essa condição provisória que confere a este início de diário o seu valor: não o de explicar a viagem depois de concluída, mas o de acompanhar um pensamento que começa antes da partida e se transforma durante o percurso.
