⇤ Three Ways of Travelling
ROAD TRIP — Spain
read Project Statement
Garry Winogrand, for example, […] found that within the rectangle of this viewfinder, he could freeze vignettes of life as he saw it or, rather, as his camera saw it. It might sound like Cartier-Bresson, but in truth, his aims were very different:
“I photograph to find out what the world looks like in a photograph.”

There are still countless roads, places, and experiences waiting ahead.
Each episode becomes part of a journey shaped by landscapes, people, memory, and movement.
What stories and places will we encounter along the way?
We embark on this adventure from the westernmost point of mainland Europe, Portugal (Episode 1), following the stunning Portuguese coastline northwards. As we approach Caminha, we prepare for a significant moment: crossing the Minho River, a natural border between Portugal and Spain. Galicia holds a special place in our hearts, having been one of our favourite regions to explore, and returning here feels like reconnecting with a familiar landscape.
Episode 10 marks the beginning of our Spanish journey. After crossing into Galicia, we follow the Atlantic coast through places such as A Guarda, Baiona, Vigo, Pontevedra, Cambados, Vilanova de Arousa, Santiago de Compostela, Noia, Muros, Carnota, Fisterra, Muxía, Camariñas, Malpica, A Coruña and Betanzos before reaching Ferrol. Along the way, we encounter fishing villages, historic towns, rugged cliffs, long beaches, estuaries and some of the most distinctive coastal landscapes in north-western Europe.
Galicia is a land shaped by the ocean, maritime traditions, pilgrimage routes and a strong cultural identity. Each stop offers a different perspective on the region, from bustling ports and historic centres to remote headlands where the Atlantic dominates the horizon.
Beyond Ferrol, the journey will continue along Spain’s northern coast, exploring Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country. Future episodes will lead us through places such as Ribadeo, Luarca, Cudillero, Gijón, Santander, Bilbao and San Sebastián, following the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Biscay while discovering new landscapes, cultures and stories along the way.
Every episode becomes part of a journey shaped by landscapes, people, memory and movement. What stories and places will we encounter next?
